UAE Pavilion
Delays in construction led to a compressed timeline for staff recruitment and familiarisation, all against the backdrop of a global pandemic. While the team was experienced, their ability to operate as a cohesive unit across multiple functions—and in coordination with EXPO2020 Dubai partners—needed refinement. With high reputational stakes and limited time, the Pavilion required a structured approach to readiness, ensuring that roles, responsibilities, and crisis response mechanisms were clearly understood before opening day.
Ikosaeder conducted an in-depth assessment of operational readiness across people, processes, infrastructure, technology, and command and control structures. From this, a tailored readiness program was developed, combining scenario-based exercises with interactive learning. Team members participated in digital and real-world simulations designed to refine decision-making, enhance cross-functional coordination, and strengthen crisis management protocols. A series of facilitated discussions also fostered stronger collaboration between the UAE Pavilion team and EXPO2020 Dubai stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of responsibilities.

Over four weeks, more than 100 participants engaged in the program, gaining deeper situational awareness and a clearer grasp of their roles in high-pressure scenarios. The initiative strengthened working relationships, enhanced the team’s ability to respond to operational challenges, and identified areas for further development. By the time EXPO2020 Dubai opened its doors, the UAE Pavilion team was prepared, resilient, and ready to deliver an exceptional visitor experience.
